What Is Vision Performance Training?

Did you know that half of the nerves that run the body are responsible for the eyes?  That's a lot of neurology! To move our eyes with precision and accuracy requires a lot of concentration and neuro-muscular power. Your brain is amazing!

Vision Performance Training (vision therapy, vision rehabilitation, sports vision) is training of your eyes and brain to work better together for improved tracking, eye teaming, clarity, fusion, depth perception, visual efficiency, eye hand coordination, visual memory, reading comprehension, and other important processing skills.

You see with more than just your eyes. Vision is how the brain makes sense of what the eyes see. Vision Performance Training strengthens this system and allows the process to function more efficiently. How much fusion, suppression, or double vision do you experience? How well do your eyes and brain see 3D and spatial awareness? Can you visualize and process vision information efficiently? Often times relaxing glasses with prisms and magnifiers give the visual system a boost toward better performance.

  • Dr. Munson and the Vision Performance Center have helped us tremendously. We were impressed by how thoroughly Dr. Munson tested our son's vision. Her plan for vision therapy has transformed our son's vision from seeing 20/70 corrected to 20/20 corrected while needing much less magnification. She seems very passionate about helping people improve their vision. Brooke, our visiontherapist, was amazing with our son. She was always patient, cheerful andentertaining. The whole staff has been exceptional and has treated us so kindly.

  • The (Vision Performance) pretesting appointments went very smoothly and they weren’t too challenging, and afterwards I was more aware of my vision issues than I had noticed before. It was nice to get to work with the same staff members during and after the pretesting.

  • I grew up always self-conscious about my eye turn. It was not until I came across the Vision Performance Center that I learned there was training to help correct my wandering eye! Through the testing, I learned that I had been suppressing my problematic eye to compensate. The moment I realized that the Vision Performance Training was really making a difference was when I noticed that my eye was no longer suppressing and that my depth perception had improved. It has helped my confidence to know that I can control how my eyes work together.

  • My Vision Performance training has helped incredibly. I used to get motion sick driving up the curvy roads in the mountains, and living in Colorado, that’s no fun. Since finishing my Vision Performance training, I can now enjoy those mountain drives. Along with my motion sickness subsiding, my depth perception has improved greatly as well. I’m thankful that I was able to benefit from the training that the Vision Performance Center has to offer.
